Hi I really wanted to get a good gaming pc , but I've been seeing some of the titles Xbox 360 has and I have to reckon that the pc does not have much choices when it comes to these genres:

  • Fighters
Hack and Slash (like Bayonetta , not like Diablo)
    JRPGS
    Sports
    Third Person Shooters
    Console Exclusives

In an ideal world I would spend every $ I have on a pc due to the massive difference in performance. But there are some great titles that I won't be able to play if I go PC only. And I've made up my mind about this fact : Emulation just won't be possible , these consoles are too powerful and CPU's (crucial when it comes to emulation) aren't getting any better.

That being said , I would not want to miss the glory of pc gaming either. So , I thought about the following: What if instead of spending 1k USD (with US prices as a reference) I just spend 700 bucks on it and 300 bucks for the 360? Is there a big delta in performance between a 700 and a 1k rig?
Besides , when you think of it some of the best pc games are indie games. Those of do not require high end hardware.

I do not care about building a future proof rig as I have to get thought hundreds of seventh gen games first. Then I would like to play Watch Dogs , TitanFall and Star Citizen.

A $700 Gaming PC is a great price point for a PC, and with the release of the Xbox One around the corner, I wouldn't get to hung up on the price of a 360. I'm sure it will tank eventually, just like the original Xbox when the 360 was released. I'm sure you'll be able to build an at least $800 PC and still get your 360. Spending $700 on the right components will get you a PC that's not going to max out most big games out there (I'm talking Crysis 3 and such, you'll probably get high settings on BF4 and TitanFall, etc.), but you'll have plenty of performance for 1080p gaming.

Spending $1000 bucks on a PC may get you noticeably better performance over a $700 PC, and it still won't max out alot of big games out there, but if you really want to play those 360 exclusives, go with that. $700 is all you'll need to max out indie games and is great for medium-high settings on FPS games and such at 1080p. Which components for your PC are you looking at? You'll be able to find great deals on them if you look around.

I hope this helped!

I would go for a mid-range PC (500-600) and an Xbox 360, so you can get those console exclusive game titles, and not miss out on any of those awesome PC only games and indie games!
There is a bit of a difference between a 700 dollar system and a 1k dollar system, mainly you can get a better cpu and gpu that makes a large difference like, for example (Prices will probably be off)

$700:
Intel Core i5
8GB Ram
GeForce GTX 660/Radeon HD 7790

1k:
Intel Core i7
12GB Ram
GeForce GTX 770/Radeon HD 7970

See what I mean?
Anyway, go for a cheaper 500-600 dollar PC and a console, so you don't miss out.

Just going to comment, whatever machine you choose, get the latest hardware. What I mean is, instead of the 660, go with the 760, or instead of the Radeon 7000 series, go with a R9 series card, simply because its newer and will perform better than any old, equally priced hardware. There's nothing wrong with the older cards, but I would buy a newer one.

Sorry if I came out as disagreeing with you TwistedFury, I know you were just giving an example off the top of your head. I'm just saying if you were to go with a system like that, to look out for that.

No problem man, just making an example, but those R9 cards will be very expensive.
