what do i do and does 478 work in 775?

i have a 478 pin cpu and im looking to upgrade to pci express and dont feel like buying a new processor i cant find a mobo that supports pci express and has a 478 chipset... any thoughts?

ive have been told that the 478 pin also fits in a 775 socket

No it won't fit, there two complety different sockets.
Also, don't get Intel, get AMD they are better at the moment and a nice budget build can be done.

(I might have just started a flame bait, but I don't care)

Considering that 478 has sockets for pins, and 775 is pins, I'm not sure how someone could mess that up.

Don't forget, Socket 775 is LGA, so the pins are on the mobo. Socket 478 has then on the chip. HOW COULD SOMEONE MESS THAT UP!!!!!11111

my thoughts if you wanna keep that chip get a motherboard with a 478 SOCKET (its not a chipset) and find a AGP video card.

Otherwise sell the cpu and get the appropriate cpu+motherboard that has what you want.

Those are your choices. Of course, you can always forgo the whole thing and not bother.
