What kit should I get to talk on discord? The people I normally game with all use discord, and want me to join them, but I don't know what I do and don't need.

Currently my audio goes from an ASUS Xonar D2X, via optical to a Logitech 5.1 system (can't remember exact one). Can I just buy a microphone, and have the voip and game audio come out of the speakers?
Also, can I use the microphone on my logitech webcam?

Solution
If I remember correctly, Discord is pretty much the same thing as Teamspeak, so you'd only need a headset/mic. Check to see if your logitech camera has a mic, almost all come with one. Yes, if you buy a microphone you can just plug it in the mic slot (there's one with a mic symbol on the front of your case, more than likely) and audio will come out of your speakers/headphones.
Yes you can use any microphone to talk with people on discord.

BUT if you use speakers, the microphone will also pickup the game sound and transmit it over discord, and this will piss everyone off.

If you get a headset then you won't be transmitting your game audio back over discord.

Try it out with your microphone on your webcam, it'll be kinda s***y, but it'll still pickup the game audio and you'll see how mad everyone is.

Thanks guys, I've got some decent headphones I might plug in, and see how it goes with the webcam microphone.

If not, are there any headsets people would recommend?

Also, does discord pick up on when you talk, or does it transmit all the time?

There should be an option for when you speak on Discord (like on CS:GO, just Tab when you want to talk). The G430 is a cheap and good headset, the wires are long enough, too, but they're awfully weak (dog chewed up mine).

Well, they're not weak, Dogs jaws are just extremely strong.
They eat bones dude.

Discord has both push to talk and "voice activation" (detect when you talk above a certain level) It should default to voice activation though.

Trust me, I know that, I grew up with dogs. I wasn't saying they were weak BECAUSE my dog chewed it up, I was just saying that my dog chewed it up (the first day I got it). The wires are still pretty weak, but are fine if you don't do anything stupid.
