Okay, here is the deal...

I am running an A88xm-E35 motherboard, and an A8 5600K. I am going to upgrade to an A10-7890K, what do I need to do before changing the CPU's out. I changed them out but the PC would not get an image or USB power, read about this and figured I had to change the CUP's around agian. Did that and the PC works fine. But again, how do I make it work with the new CPU.

Before you buy/change a CPU, you need to ensure it's supported by your motherboard (may need a BIOS update, may not be supported at all).

Consult the MSI website for CPU compatibility
https://ca.msi.com/Motherboard/support/A88XM-E35.html#support-cpu

The 7890K is not supported (last supported release was the A10-7650K / A10-7850K

Reach out to MSI support. They may have a BETA release BIOS they can provide to you, but I wouldnt hold you breath.

Return the CPU if you can - it's not supported.

^ what barty said - although in all fairness if it supports the 7850k it should support the 7890k as in essence its just a slightly overclocked variation of the same chip.

Update your bios to the newest u4 & there's a good chance it'll work OK.

Good point MM.

That being said though, aren't the A8-7600 and A8-PRO-7600B variants of the same chip? Those appear to be supported by different BIOS revisions (U2 and U3 respectively), so it may not be as simple as one being supported, it's OC'd variant should be too.

Fingers crossed though OP. Install your old CPU, update the BIOS from MSI's site and then reinstall the new chip.
