What do i need to download to record myself from my microphone

Hello, So.... I don't really know were to start. Do I need to download anything for me to start my recording? I'm kind of stuck on this. And what are the things that I need if all I want to do is record myself with no musical instruments but I also need a MPC and I heard those were really expensive.

The "Windows Sound Recorder" is already in Windows, under Accessories. Open it, connect the microphone, and record away! When you are done recording, specify the file name and the directory under which you want to save the recording.

Try it a few times, and then playback to listen to the recording.
