What do I need to upgrade to make GTA V stop lagging?

I've got quite a decent machine, but it's starting to give in. For example GTA V is close to unplayable at this moment. I've checked the task manager and it seems like it's the RAM memory that's working the hardest. I've got 8 gigs of RAM currently, and when playing GTA it shows me that it's using around 7 gigs. The processor seems fine from what I can see looking at the task manager and the GPU is new and not a problem. Here are my specs, what do you guys think, do I need to upgrade the RAM, or is it something else that's failing?

CPU: Intel(R) Core i5-3470 (4CPUs) @ 3.20 GHz oc and running @ ~3.6-3.8
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 STRIX
RAM: Corsair DDR3 2 x 4GBytes (8gigs)
Motherboard: MSI B75MA-P45 (MS-7798)
Power Supply: Something around 420 W
Drivers: I've got the latest drivers of NVIDIA

If you guys would think that RAM is the issue, would I then have to buy two more RAM memories? Because the fact that you can only have either 1 memory, but if it's more than one it has to be an even number? And would it have to be the EXACT same type as the two older ones, or is the important thing that it's DDR3 and also 4 gigs each? I've got two out of four memory slots occupied by my current memories.

Thanks in advance
/Fredrik

You said the GPU is new. Did you fully uninstall the old drivers with DDU before installing the Nvidia drivers for the 970?

For the long-term, I'd start thinking about a PSU upgrade as well - "something around 420W" doesn't exactly scream quality.

Matching RAM with old RAM can be a nightmare. Better to just get 2x8 out of the box rather than get 2x4 and risk only being able to get one set of 8 GB or the other set of 8 GB working by themselves.

Why would I need to sell the old ones, I mean why can't I not just buy two new ones?

Thanks for the response, do you by any chance have a link that discribes how to unistall old GPU drivers, as I'm not fimiliar with that kind of stuff. And I don't quite get why you want me to buy two brand new 8gigs whilst my old ones are working, feels like I'm just wasting my money...And I've done some research and I now know for a fact that I have Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 1600MHz, would you still suggest I buy two new 8GB and replace the old ones??

I was thinking he/she would buy 2x8 then try use them all .
There's no loss then, he/she would end up with 16gb or 24 gb.
