What do I need to upgrade?

Okay, I'm after a really simple answer to this. I bought a Compaq PC for dirt cheap it has 2GB ram and Pentium Dual Core E5300 @ 2.6Ghz. I have since then added a graphics card Geforce Gt640 Evga 2GB DDR3 Edition. However I'm experience severe spikes in my FPS whilst playing Minecraft (even on mid settings) Basically what I need to know is whether something in this build needs desperately replacing or upgrading because I have no idea what I'm doing. (Running windows 7 64bit) Any help would be massively appreciated.

Minecraft honestly does not require much GPU horesepower to run so you should be fine with the 640 for now, I would add another 2 GB of ram and see how that goes. also first try changing render distance from max or far to normal to see if that helps.

As JDogz said, Add more ram as minecraft is fairly ram hungry

Depending on how much you can spend you should probably upgrade the motherboard and processor. Minecraft is quite CPU intensive and at 2.6Ghz it really isn't going to cut it.
