What do I upgrade?!?

So have had my current system for 4-5 years now
Specs are;

*Intel i5-4590 @ 3.3Ghz
*Gigabyte Z97-HD3 Motherboard
*8Gb Ram
*AMD R9 280 "VTX" (if anyone can shed some light on what the VTX is It'd be much appreciated)
*1TB Hard Drive
*Asus Soundcard


What im wondering is what exactly is the best thing(s) to upgrade on it, I know the motherboard can only take 4 and 5th generation CPUs and that I think it would be beneficial to add a SSD to put the OS on and any games I use frequently

Wanting to create a system that I can use instead of a PS4 Pro/Xbox One X and for it to be better and "future ready"

Any recommendation on what to do, Graphics Card etc. (Happy for a budget up to £550/600 but open to all ideas)

Add an SSD, preferably 250GB or more.

Upgrade RAM to 16GB

Upgrade CPU to an unlocked sku like an i7 4770k or 4790k and overclock

Maybe even upgrade the GPU but the R9 280 is still fine imo. But i can't properly suggest upgrades without a budget.
