Hi guys

Im new here but Im not total noob. Just getting grips with all of this.

Im just curious with my new PC which I made for the first time. I think my RAM and the Hard-drive is not working too well.

Here is the windows experience score.

So I just wanna ask is the score OK for this system, very importantly the RAM and HDD score.

If you have any tips to improve with out overclock please let me now.

In addition, I have 2 problems with this system,

1. The cpu gets little too hot. Everest Monitors at

Motherboard 40 °C (104 °F)
CPU 43 °C (109 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #1 50 °C (122 °F)

Rear 1321 RPM
GPU ? RPM (Rivertunner at 75%)

2. Hard drive clicks and sometime its on a full load even when Im doing nothing on the PC and sometime it also happens when I have just booted into Windows.

Ive done test on 3dmark06 and PCmark05

Thanks In Advance

2gb ddr3 1066?is this the ram you have?Then ur score for the ram is little low.
Even my 800Mhz ddr2 gives a score of 5.9(or maybe 5.5 i dont remember correctly as i use xp most of the times.)

Hard disk score is okay. don't worry about that.

Are the cpu temps on idle or @ full load?

can you give us more information on exactly what parts your using?

Its interesting that windows vista allows an index higher than 5.9...must be that crazy sp3

@shubham1401

So my hard drive is okay? glad to hear that. My memory is:

http://www.dabs.com/products/crucial-2gb-240pin-ddr3-pc3-8500-non-ecc-cl-7-4QH0.html

I was worried that my memory is not running at its full potential.

The Temps are when its idle. But at full load while play crysis or GTA4 for 1hr or 2hrs the temps are at 65 °C - 70 °C max. But im still scaried that its quite high on idle.

Let me

Currently my CPU temp is 45 °C and highest single core temp is at 52 °C.

@kubes

Just let me know what information to require, other than what I have in my Sig.

BTW Im running windows 7 and those WEI looked little too high for my config. LOL

That temp may or may not be high depending upon the room temps.
Nowdays its very hot in the city i live and the temps are around 40 deg cel.
And my E7300 idles at 41 deg cel.

And in winters it idles at as low as 28 degree celcius.

I appolgize for not seeing your signature with your list of parts....

Your temps seem to be ok. What is a bit scary though is you stated your hard dive is "clicking". that's not a good thing. You should be able to hear hard drives spinning up and down but clicking ussualy is not a good thing. Depending on which hard drive it is you might want to start preparing for it to fail.

when talking about full load in your second question are you reffereing to the hard drive or the CPU? You may want to try defragging and running scan disk. (It might also be time for a clean format of the drive?). I'm wondering if its possible you might have a virus of some sort.

@shubham1401

In england the temps not that high but my room is little hotter than the rest of the house. Dont ask why. Im scared because Ive seen same cpu overclock at 3.25ghz with idle temps at 41-45 (they used custom cooling though).

@kubes

No worries,

about the clicking harddrive sound, Ive read in other forums including here (somewhere), that many other people are having the same problem as my 320gb barracuda is having. Plus I have also disabled PREFETCH on windows7 and now the hard drives running very smooth.

The full load was of CPU and GPU. The temps are for CPU only. This is new PC and the hard drives were brand new and they were clean formated before the installation of windows xp and windows 7 (dual boot). The hard drives were defragged and ran scan disk once all my programs were installed. Im running NOD32 and Spybot from beginning so I dont think I have a virus or any spyware.

Thanks guys for your replys

Does any one know how to change RAM timings, I was told that reason for low score of my RAM in WEI could be cause of worng RAM timing and should set it to manufacturers setting.

PS could some please find out what my RAM timing should be.

Thanks

So I just checked my Bios and found that my mate had set the memory timing at

9-9-9-24 at 1.70V (1333mhz Mem-Frequency)

I just restored the timing to automatic settings and now the timing is

7-7-7-20 at 1.54V (1066mhz Mem-Frequency)

which sounds right now

Thanks

Exactly the same dude. I thought it might go down but for some reason its the same. Could be windows 7. What do you think?
