what do this switch do?

i have an AMD Radeon R9 290 and i seen this switch on my video card (mind you i never seen it before until i had to clean my card) can someone tell me what exactly is it for? i have mines switched to the left side what mode is that in? i wish i was able to post a picture of it up.

It's probably a UEFI/legacy mode switch. New motherboards with a type of firmware called UEFI that boots the system up and loads Windows. Older motherboards/PCs use something called BIOS to boot up and load the OS. That switch, depending on its position, means it can be used with old and new systems.
