What do you do with the CHD file?

I'm terribly sorry for asking this question as I feel that is something that
I should have been able to find going through this newsgroup.
I only found one that sorta asked about it. But the only replay he got was
how to download it and run it through QuickPAR.

My question is ... What do you do with the actual CHD file?
I havent downloaded anything for MAME since version 0.72. And back then it
was just to download the ZIP file, place it in ROMS and play. w00 h00.

But what's up with this CHD now?

I found this page here:
http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mameguide/mamechd.htm

But it says something about a matching zip file too??
I downloaded a couple of CHD files from alt.binaries.emulators.mame ... but
it didnt come with any .zip file?

I downloaded:
biofreak.chd
area51mx.chd

But what do I do with them now?

Thank you for any help in advance :)

Cheers,
Martin

create a folder that's the same name as the ROM file, put it in the roms
directory, and set the .chd in there.

This is just an example - Set C:\MAME to your MAME path. The files
should be placed like this:

C:\MAME\ROMS\area51mx.zip
C:\MAME\ROMS\biofreak.zip
C:\MAME\ROMS\area51mx\area51mx.chd
C:\MAME\ROMS\biofreak\biofreak.chd

As I said earlier...

There was _NO_ zip files in the packages I downloaded from
a.b.emulators.mame.
So where do I get the .zip file from?

As someone kindly to post it in the binary group, every chd has an
associated zip file.

Oh ok - this is not normal procedure in that Binary that they post the zip
along with the CHD?
Or have I just been unlucky and picked 2 CHDs without a ZIP file?

Yes, ROMs and CHDs are usually posted separately so you don't have to
download anything unnecessary.
