i'll be putting together a new PC for myself in the next two weeks and i have decided on these parts:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz
MB: ASUS Prime B350 Plus ATX
RAM: G.skill Ripjaws V DDR4 3200 MHz 2x8GB kit (will underclock to 2933 MHz for stability)
PSU: Corsair CX650M 650W
Storage: 1TB WD Blue HDD, Kingston SSDNow 120GB 2280 M.2 SSD
GPU: ASUS STRIX RX 580 8GB OC
display: LG 22MP68-VQ 75Hz Freesync monitor

i plan on making video game mods and CS mapmaking + level editing. i also do a lot of video editing and sound editing. i'll play most of the new titles not maxed out i.e no AA if the game is very taxing and i like using high resolution texture mods.

so do you guys have any opinions on this build?

Well it's not bad by any means, but do you really need 3000mhz of memory speed? I'd say go cheaper and grab 2400mhz as those will be just fine for your needs. Can't remember if Ryzen has a cooler, but you may want to pick that up, but even then, the CPU cooler makers are slipping on getting those AM4+ back plates out.

A lot of people will say the CX650M is a bad PSU, but as a owner, I can say that it is personally fine and powers my overclocking, GPU and other components. I will think about getting a 1080 in the future. Already have my i7-6700K and will most like overclock that to 4.8ghz when I get it.

Other than that, it looks pretty good to me. I would recommend an SSD for faster boot up times, especially for your video editing software.

thanks for your reply mate :) ,
im using the 3200mhz RAM as Ryzen seems to work better with faster memory due to some CCX crosstalk thing . many reviewers have stated that the core complexes' communication speed is directly proportional to the speed of the memory. another reason i need faster RAM is because of my needs, game modding, video editing etc.

about the CPU cooler, the R5 1600 'X' version doesn't come with the stock cooler, but the thing im worried about is that i dont know if the thermal paste is provided with the stock cooler of the R5 1600 or not.

good to know that the CX650M works fine with your build, should work fine with my build unless i plan on crossfire in the future.are the cables having good lengths?

about the SSD, i'll be using a M.2 SSD from kingston but im also considering the 850 evo 120 GB M.2 SSD.

My cable lengths were good. The SATA can be a bit tricky, but it's how I got my case set up. I do like the fact that the 24-pin and 8-pin CPU is the only non-modular cable, everything else I can put to the side which makes cable management a bit easier.

thanks for the reply man, i'll go with this build but i'll be changing the SSD to a 850 evo.

Bang for buck performance wise the Ryzen 5 1600 is right for you.

Would just try to get 3000mhz memory instead of paying more for 3200

Would adivse a better PSU but only need 550w for setup

For video editing you should be getting NVIDIA and not AMD.
Handbrake, Photoshop, Premier Pro, and many others will use CUDA cores in NVIDIA to offload processing; can make a large difference in rendering times. Thus for the same amount of money you will get more use out of a GTX-1060

Dont go with Kingston SSD drives. The UV300 were bait-and-switch garbage, and the new generation stuff is a poor implementation of Toshiba TLC.
Outside of "cleaner" there is no point to pay extra for m2 vs SATA unless getting an NVMe M2 drive (and amount of performance gain vs cost difference is debatable if worth it).
Either way I highly suggest Samsung or Crucial over Kingston.
If you have to have to get a budget grade SSD the PNY CS1311 is the "best" of the budget ones (still uses Toshiba TLC but a little better then competition).

thanks for your reply, im getting the RX 580 mainly due to Freesync, a Gsync monitor is really out of my budget so that is why i cant choose Nvidia. doesn't AMD also have something similar to CUDA called OpenCL that helps in video editing?
about the SSD i dont have a budget problem but at the same time i cannot afford a NVMe drive, so i've decided to go with the Samsung 850 evo 250GB, which one will be better for video editing? SATA or M.2?

Not really any software titles will use OpenCL, but you can research specifically what they use, hell maybee the newest versions do support it.

850evo is way better then the kingston. As far as m2 vs SATA it is pretty much 6 of one half a dozen of the other, they will preform pretty much the same.
SATA gives you a little more universal compatibility, M2 gives you a cleaner build

ill get the M.2 version as i need to accommodate more drives later on (3 1TB HDDs, 2 SATA SSDs and 1 ODD)
thanks for your help :)

They have gotten better, the previous generation had some capacitor issues that resulted in reduced output and/or premature failure.

But yeah a 550w Seasonic Gold or EVGA G2/G3 would be a better choice, even a Sesonic 520w s12 or m12 would be better.

I agree the Seasonic would be better, but again the CX650M is not bad, at least the grey model. I'm using it and had no issues. When I get my 6700K, I may just switch over ato a Seasonic, but I will see how it goes.

ok guys i need opinions on the ASUS B350 Prime Plus motherboard. many people on newegg are complaining that the motherboard bricks itself after few days of usage.
