What do you guys think about this monitor?

It is one of those newer 16:9 24" monitors. They all use the inexpensive TN panel technology which is why you are probably seeing it for less than $350. Most gamers like TN panels because they are inexpensive and tend to have the fastest "listed" response time spec.

The monitor lists viewing angles of 176/176, but in reality it will be less than that because that is usually if do not go higher than a certain contrast level. That means it is a bit unrealistic and it is my opinion that actual viewing angles will be more like 160/160 under normal conditions.

I recently purchased the Asus VK246H and you still have a chance to purchase it for $280 if your order it by 12/17. See the following link; it's a long post and what I posted can also be applied to this Acer:

I basic commented on my expectation for that monitor and a few of the technological limitation of TN panel technology. The specifications and features are nearly the same plus it has a built in web-cam if that really matters to you. Asus has the same monitor without the web-cam, but the coupon code made this one less expensive. The most notable specs that are different are the viewing angles and contrast ratio. Like I said before, those are just list specs. Actual viewing angles for both monitors will be approximately the same; 160/160. The contrast ratio of the Asus is 20k : 1 vs. 40K : 1, you will most likely not be able to tell the difference between the two and companies generally like to be generous with their listed specs.

Both monitors offers features to get the best colors out of the monitor; short of actually buying a colorimeter ($75 - $300) which is the better hardware solution to get the best accurate colors.

For me, the monitor will get some occasional usage; mostly to check upon some processes and surf from time to time so I figure I might as well just buy an inexpensive TN panel monitor (something I would not normally do) and if it sucks so be it. For $238 (if I get my PayPal discount) it was worth the risk. I just shippe today (12/16/08) so I should be getting this piece of crap by Monday.
