I am thinking of getting this system , please tell me your opinions.

The graphics card I am waiting for the GeForce 7900GTX - I will be getting 2 for SLi mode.

The price will be around ZAR 25 000.00 in USD it will be approx $ 3900.00 excluding the graphics cards

With 2 x 7800GTX 512 the price will be around ZAR 38 000.00 in USD is will be approx $ 5900.00

Can't comment on all the components, but here's a few thoughts:

Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard: I have this myself and love it

Logitech G7 Laser mouse: I have this and the G5. I personally prefer the G5 (corded version), although this is mainly because the G7 doesn't work well with my speakers (logitech Z-5450) - signal interference I think.

ASUS A8N32 SLI-D: I have just recently installed this motherboard, and so far it seems pretty good. Haven't tried overclocking it yet, although there seem to be plenty of options in BIOS. Nice layout for the Sli slots too. I have the 7800GTX models in mine, and can just use all 3 PCI slots (pretty tight though). Not sure if the 7900's will be wider. Still, you didn't specify any components that would require these slots so should be no problem.

ASUS® Vento Extreme Gaming Case - Model VENTO3600-B: had a quick look at this case, and not sure if it will support the 4HDD's you are planning to put in there (I think this has 3 internal slots only). Also seems a bit small, with only 2 fans. With all that gear you are going to put in there, it's going to get a bit warm, and you may want to consider something with more ventilation like the Coolermaster Stacker (if you have the space).

As you didn't specify the purpose of this PC (although it looks like an extreme gaming machine - possibly video stuff too if you need 2 terabytes of disk space), then I can't really advise on gfx cards or CPU. FX57 is very nice for gaming (have the FX55 myself), but an X2 may be better if your planning on multitasking a lot.

No sound card or speakers ?

Other more experienced people may be able to advise you better on the other components - I can only comment on the components that I have myself really

Imo, 4 gigs is overkill, but whatever floats your boat
Agree with post above, make sure that case can even fit 4 HDDs.

Other then that, looks like a pretty insane build!

Thats a kick ass system. If youre going for 4 gigs of ram you should try and get windows professional 64 bit. If you have 32 bit it wont read more then 3.5 gigs. Other than that that system should destroy everything.

Good look finding 2 7800GTX 512. I honestly think you should wait about a week when the RD580 boards come out and get two x1900 XT(X) and put them in crossfire. That would pwn all.

hey great rig, but that case hummm i don't know and besides it only supports 3 hard drives you had to adapt one into a 5'25 slot, how about a chieftec case like a bx02 ou a dragon series, and about the hard drives put some raptors in there they would turn everything faster i guess!!!

What's the plan for the four 500GB drives? All separate or RAID (0,1 x2,01,10,5)?

If you want fault tolerance and high storage, I'd say go for RAID 5, but buy a WD Raptor for the system drive, because RAID 5 can lower disk writing performance. This will give you 1.5 TB on your RAID 5, and you can lose one drive without data loss.

If you don't want to buy another drive, but you want performance and fault tolerance, I'd recommend you go with RAID 01 or 10. Either will give you 1 TB of storage and high read/write performance. You can lose at least one drive, and in some case two, without data loss.

My friend and I have our own compnay , so we can buy parts cheap from some PC Hardware distributers.

Sorry to have lead you on that I am getting the system , if I do have some cash to spend ona PC i will definitly let you guys know and to give me some help.

4x500gb seagates? get a raptor for main and a larger drive or two (depending on your needs) for storage

4gb of ram? get 2gb and more later if you wish

Assuming gaming is in your future, save yourself a few hundred dollars, and get an X2-4600/4800 instead...

At high res, even a 3500+ scores fairly closely to an FX57, as the gpu (or in your case, GPUs, are the most important....

Were I building up a rig today, it'd be a dual core...

Yeah, the 4GB RAM is a lot- you'll likely only use 1.5GB or 2GB tops. But DDR400 is pretty cheap. Just make sure that your board can support 8 ranks of RAM. My Abit KN8-SLi has 4 RAM slots and can support 4GB RAM- but only in 2 2GB double-ranked modules.

Also, the biggest Raptors you can get are 150GB. He has 2TB of HDD space, so I take it this is a pie-in-the-sky rig or there is a TON of video on this box. If it's video, those Raptors would prove to be very expensive and not very better-performing. I got a 74 gig Raptor because I run a Linux box and do a lot of work that has somewhat random HDD access, such as untarring files and running VMware. That is where the Raptors shine. They are little to no better than a large HDD for sustained-transfer operations like video.

So essentially, you are saying you wasted your time, and the time of several people trying to help you in fine tuning a rig which you knew from the start you could/would never possibly be able to afford or build?

You succeeded.....

In light of that, you should get a K6-2/300, and put an AGP S3 Virge (4 mb) in it, when you *CAN* afford it! It will be great for COD2, BF2, and FEAR, and handle all your multitasking needs!
