What do you guys think

Building a gaming system to play a little of everything. I'm mostly playing WoW on all low settings and want to crank it up, will be playing Skyrim and other FPS game, Civ, SC2 etc. I'm trying to keep it to around $1100 with a monitor just seeing what you guys think.

That case and power supply are pretty bad, everything else seems good. You can't really get a good power supply for less than 40-50 dollars. The key with psus is to make sure you have an "active PFC" which significantly improves efficiency and the lifespan of your components.

Looks like a good rig!

If you're going to be gaming then i'd recommend changing the CPU to the i5-2700K. It's cheaper than the i7 but is just right for a gaming rig.

It's the K version too so it's got quite a bit of head room for over-clocking if you ever go down that route.

With the money saved with the CPU i'd go for another PSU, maybe this one:

It's an extra $30-$40 but it's modular and will help increase airflow in your case to cool down the CPU and the big ass 7870.

My thoughts:
1. $230 is a great price for a 3770K from microcenter.
But you can get a 3570K for $190 which will perform exactly the same for games.
Games rarely use more than 2-3 cores, so the extra hyperthreads of the 3770K are largely unused.

2. Diablotek is a tier 5 unit (not recommended, replace asap) on this list:

Buy a tier 1, 2 or possibly 3 unit. 600w from a quality brand is good.

3. With your budget, buy a SSD. 120gb will hold the os and a handful of games. With 180gb or 240gb, you may never need a hard drive at all.. Perhaps defer the hard drive until you need more room. Intel or Samsung would be my preferred brands.

4. You are buying a "K" so you can overclock a bit. Buy a $30 tower type cooler like the cm hyper212 or Xigmatek.
You will run quieter and cooler. The backplate mount will be easier to install than the Intel pushpin type.

5. Just my opinion; I did not much like windows 8 compared to 7. Go to a store and try it out. I have seen too many negative comments about it.
