these 3 memory sets?

Honestly, I don't particularly like any of them... to answer your question, though, I'd go with Corsair. They've just been a better company to me than Kingston, and that means a lot. Other than that, they're all close enough in performance that you'd never notice any difference at all, if there even is any.


You sure you can't get ahold of that instead? The Ripjaws X series is guarenteed to work with an LGA 1155 platform, and G.Skill is probably one of the best companies I've ever worked with. Never had a single problem with any of their RAM in my history of buying from them, and other forum members will say the same. If not, go with the Corsair. But if possible, go with the G.Skill.

Most of the time when I'm looking on amazon it doesnt show g.skill for me, I don't know why, so I usually forget about them. However now I have a slightly revised question. If lower cas latency is better.....Then what about this one?

its pretty expensive but if I would see better performance I dont think I would mind the extra bit.

The only thing I'm not to sure of with that one is would it work with my mb? I mean, whats up with that voltage? (I'm somewhat new to this) Is there a way i couldlower the voltage on the mb? As I'm sure that it runs 1.5v not 1.25v.

The only way you'll ever see any difference between two latencies of DDR3 RAM is if you're an extreme overclocker doing benchmarks. In any other situation, you'll see no real noticeable difference in performance. Even if you did, that money would be better spent elsewhere. Just my opinion.

As for the low-voltage RAM, I'd steer clear of it. Not because it's bad, but I'm not much of an expert on specifically the Sandybridge LGA 1155 platform, and I can't really say anything for sure about the voltages. If I'm correct, then you only want to run 1.5v memory on it; anything else will cause problems or not run at all. I can say for sure that 1.5v WILL work, though, and it's probably better to be safe.


I'd say that's still your best option. Guaranteed compatibility, a good price, and nice fast performance at 1600Mhz. The reviews on that kit say everything. :)
I'm gonna disagree somewhat on the no performance difference w/ lower CAS.....what gets misconstrued is that over time small performance difference somehow becomes no performance difference. First off that mantra comes from gaming reviews, more on that later. But you didn't specify "in gaming" so the 1st thing that has gotta be said is that faster RAM can make a huge amount of differences, in CAD, rendering, Photo and video editing and big spreadsheets / databases.

The second thing is that faster RAM does make a difference in gaming, tho most times it's gonna be a small one.....it oft gets lost in reviews that focus only on average fps instead of minimum fps....which is the part that gets annoying when playing . It's oft quoted as 3 - 5 %, the question as to whether it's worth it depends on ya frame of reference. Looking at it from the "cost of RAM" standpoint. Is it worth it to pay $95 instead of $55 to drop RAM from CAS 9 to CAS 7 .... on that basis no, as it costs you 72% more for a that 3-5% performance increase.

Then again, wait a minute, your whole system goes 3 - 5 % faster, not just the RAM. So on a $1600, build that cost increase is 2.5% for a 3 - 5% improvement....now that ROI (return on investment) doesn't look so bad but again, it's personal choice. ..... only you can decide if it's worth it to you.....casual gamer, prolly not ..... competitive gamer, sure thang !

I'll give it to you, you're absolutely right. I guess that's just my opinion showing through... I've always felt that the 72% price premium for that 5% performance difference is just a terrible use of money in a mainly gaming platform. And another thing is that instead of paing $100 for CL7, would that extra $40 be better served buying more RAM instead of faster RAM? It all depends on what you'll be using it for, I guess.

You're also right in that that additional cost scales proportionally to the cost of your entire system. If you're running a $2000 system, that extra $40 is only 2% of your total system cost for an extra 3-5% performance increase. In that case, it's a good investment. But when you have an $800 system, that $100 kit of ram is over one tenth of your total cost. In this case, it isn't worth it to get a 3-5% performance gain when that money could be used on something else that would give a lot better return.

I hope that was understandable. :)

I guess it's just easier sometimes to assume that the average user that stops by is running a typical $1000 gaming rig.
I have had excellent results with G.Skill. I'm running that Sniper low voltage RAM in my 990FX mobo and it runs at rated speed without issues. Corsair Vengeance would not run at rated speed (manually setting timings will not pass POST; although I've read manually fixing voltage at 1.5v may help, I haven't tried that, I just got the Sniper) even though it is on the QVL.
