I already wrote a thread asking this question, however, I made some changes to the specs. I'll go right to the point, what do you think of this build (somewhat around the 1000 budget)?

CPU: i5-4690K
GPU: Asus R9 390*
MOBO: MSI Z97S Krait
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Storage: WD Blue 1TB
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 600W
Case: NZXT S340

*I'm actually in doubt about buying the R9 390 or a GTX 970. Power consuption really isn't a problem for me, however, the GTX can be OCed nearly to GTX 980 performance (at least that's what a lot of people say). In the other hand, the R9 390 has a similiar performeance to the GTX and, for the moment, it's barely optimized. So, if I'm right, when the adequate drivers are available, the R9 will be superior the a non-OCed GTX right?

Hi - As for the GPU, I'd go with the best price/valu option when you're ready to pull the trigger. Right now,
I'd get the 970 & use the $35-40 towards a better quality PSU. The Corsair CX series is not a series
I'd recommend for a gaming build, especially one with a 4690k & R9 390/gtx 970>

In my country (Portugal) the GTX 970 is actually the same price as the R9 390. But I guess I still can get a better PSU, afterall, my budget is not that tight.

If you are 1440p gaming the r9 390 has an edge compared to the non overclocked 970. If you are getting a 970 get a decent one an off brand with good reviews or msi gaming, evga super clocked or g1 gaming gigabyte. When the drivers are optimized the r9 390 should have around a 5-10fps on 1440p and less on 1080p. The aftermarket 970 with good overclocking abilities will be able to overclock and gain 20+fps definitly better than the r9 390 but 390 can also overclock. In conclusion they are near similar after the drivers are updated and everything is overclocked. I would get the 390 just cause of curiosity since ive been a nvidia user for a while. The beefy heatsinks on new 390 looks awesome xD if you have a side panel like me i would go for 390. If you are 1080p gaming and overclock the card nvidia is reliable.

At the moment I'm a 1080p only gamer, altough I don't know if I'll get to it (or even 4K) in the near future. I don't really know what to choose. On one hand, the R9 is better for >1080p gaming, but the GTX can be overclocked to a GTX980 performance. My head hurts ahahah

I have a super simple solution for you, as i saidin the long run they are going to perform about the same. Go for the cheapest one with the highest clock speed COMPARED TO REFERANCE CLOCK SPEED.
