Hi everyone,

I just ordered the parts to my first ever PC rig and I am very excited to put this machine together. I thought I would come on here and ask for your guys' thoughts and opinion on my build. Please keep in mind, the games I play on PC at the moment are CS GO and soon WoW Legion.

CPU: i5 6500 @ 3.2Ghz

GPU: MSI Radeon RX 480 DirectX 12 RX 480 GAMING X 8G 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support ATX Video Card

PSU: EVGA Super NOVA 650W 80+ GOLD Fully Modular

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2133C15D-16GVR

CPU Cooler : CORSAIR Hydro Series H55 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler 120mm

Motherboard : MSI B150M Mortar mATX LGA1151 B150 DDR4 SATA3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 HDMI DVI VGA USB3.0 Motherboard

Memory : Crucial MX200 2.5" 250 GB SATA lll SSD

Case : NZXT S340 Glossy White Steel ATX Mid Tower Case

The reason why I only have an SSD and not a HDD as well is that I have a separate machine that I only use for media and work purpose.. this PC will be just for gaming so I figured I could save some money by not having the HDD.

There you have it, what do you guys think? Also what kind of FPS and performance can I expect from CSGO and WoW Legion with this build? Thank you for checking it out !

Cheers

EDIT:
I realized how messy it looks by me listing the parts as above..here is the link to pcpartpicker for a cleaner view.

Also, I have yet to pick a monitor for this PC.. any recommendations would be great. Not looking to spend anything more than $250.00 CAD. 1080p * 144hz was what I was told to look for.
Also if there is anything I'm missing please let me know!

The water cooling is unnecessary for that cpu as it's not unlocked so you can't utilize water cooling for overclocking. You could've made do with a 500w PSU but 650w leaves room for an upgrade. Also you will soon realize that 250gb is not enough space for gaming. Otherwise you did ok for your first build

If I can't return the CPU cooler ( I bought through Newegg.ca) would it be bad if I still put it on the CPU?

There's no problems with it, you are just wasting money on water cooling when you don't need it.

I see, I will try and return it if I can. Also what kind of FPS can I expect to see on CSGO and WoW Legion?

Ditto, I'm crying internally at how much more value I could have gotten with that budget tbh. :p
Oh well, it's all compatible anyway, return the PSU and cooler though, the PSU is a poor quality unit and the cooler is a poor value choice, you can get the same performance from a $30 air cooler.

Thank you, I will look into replacing those parts. I plan on ugrading the CPU and GPU in the next 3-4 years so I settled for these parts for now. Do you think I can run CSGO and WoW legion on max setttings? Also what monitor should I get to go along with this spec?
Also I got all those parts for about $1350* CAD on BlackFriday sale , I thought it was a pretty good deal.

you can certainly run CSGO @ max settings but I'm unsure about WoW legion it seems like people are having problems running it @ max with a rx 480 but fine with a 970 so you will have to see about that.

This is what i could do with that budget.
Return the lot if possible.

After looking up each part, the prices are not the same as shown on your list. Not too sure how it happened but they're much more expensive now. Don't get me wrong I did my best to get the best parts I can afford. My Budget was under to hit under $1400, and that is including the shipping fee plus tax.

Originally, I had my eyes set on the GTX 1070, i5 6500k and a mobo to go with those to OC.But after including the shipping fee and the tax I was over the budget. A friend of mine also has told me that I really won't be needing a GPU and a CPU as powerful as the 1070 and the 6600k. I'm playing CS GO 99% of the time and he said it would almost be a waste of money to buy something so powerful.

I feel like with my build, I will have some room to upgrade down the road, maybe thrown on another rx 480 for SLI or get a 1070 card once I can afford to do so. Thank you for taking a look for me.

What prices aren't the same as listed?
I'll swap em.
WoW needs a good Nvidia card, AMD runs like s**t unfortunately.
If you want a 1060 I can sub that in as well, works out cheaper than an RX 480.
