Is it good or not? IF not, suggest a replacement for it that is near the same price...or possibly should I just go with the 1950pro?

You're not going to get anywhere yelling at people like that. It's a pretty good card and for $200 it's roughly the same price as a 256MB X1950XT.

You should be fine most of these companies are now held to a quality standard and that price for that card is just to good to pass up.

This gecube 1950xt is not real 1950xt... It has slower ram. Look at the reviews of some people @ newegg. It's more like a 1950pro with other 4 pipes unlocked. This card is actually slower than 1900xt.


You'll find that most X1950XTs are 628/900. I was disappointed when I discovered this card has a memory clock of only 702. CCC only allows overclock to 703(whoopee). Could probably go higher with ATI Tool but haven't tried yet. Still not a bad card for the price.

1950pro is slower period. There is no compromise to a real 1950xt. Try shopping else where than newegg.

The card is a real 1950xt it may have slower ram but its still a R580 core and not a RV570 which is what a 1950 pro is.

A real 1950xt has a clock speed of 625/1800... This card is 625/1400. This is not a 1950xt. It is slower than 1900xt.

A 1900gt is R580 doesn't necessarily mean it's going to fast as 1950xt now does it?

Someone at newegg or Gecube needs to revise because people are being tricked to think this is a real 1950xt. This card performs slower.

I purchased a GECUBE HD2900XT a few weeks ago because the sapphire was out of stock on newegg when I went to purchase, along with the asus one being too pricey compared to the others. So far it hasn't given me any problems. Updated driver disc, comes with every cord I could need and more.

Only problem I could say which isn't really a problem is that it didn't seem to have terribly much overclocking capability. I can't remember the exact numbers (not at home) but I was able to get the core clock about 100mhz over stock while not being able to really touch the memory. I didn't have plans on overclocking anyways but figured I would give it a go.

Anyways it ran fine in 3DMark06 and increased my numbers a bit but when I went to run my computer crashed at the first intensive screen. It could have very well been my processor not having enough voltage due to vdroop. I really just wanted to play the game so I reset the video card to stock and lowered my cpu down to numbers which I had it at stable previously.

Kind of getting off on a tangent without even having the same card, but I would call my card quality...hope I helped a little.

Well yes a R580 is the same core as a 1900gt the XT and the XTX are actually R580+ the diff being only small and not really relating to performance that much.
The fact still remains that it is an xt core so they are not doing anything technically wrong .
However i do agree with you that they are being very naughty not listing the clock speeds and as you say somone who didnt dig as deep as yourself did would have ended up with a comparably under performing card to what they had expected.

I checked the website for the gecube and the pro and this is what I see:

1950PRO:

MEMORY CLOCK: 13,000MHz

Ok so I see about 28mhz for the gecube over the pro version...whats the diff?

No this is still r580 core. It's faster than radeon 1950pro because it has 4 more pipes.

You need something like this. Vram matters if you are going to add AA and run high resolutions. But now it looks like these cards would be underpowered to run AA in future games.

At this price though you can get a 8800gts 320meg for $50 more which would be much better than 1950xt.

Stop yelling Gecube cards are as good as any competing brand, their bundles are a bit worse but that is not really a biggie.
