What do you think of this build? Is it future proof? Will it work with the upcoming graphics cards like the 390x? Any chnaged you would make? Thanks

Remember that no machine is truly "future-proof". You will at some point find one of your components falters compared to the rest, and you will need an upgrade. But this is pretty balanced overall, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The only real complaint I have is that the PSU is a bit overkill, specially since the 980 is so power efficient. I would go down to 600W, since it will be more than enough for the 980, but we have no idea what the power consumption of the 390X will be.

On the other hand, consider that getting a 980 now and then a 390X in a few months when it comes out is kind of wasteful. I would just wait until the 390X comes out to get more information, then.

The second leak came from AMD employees themselves (our story here). On their likedin profiles information that should never be made public, was discovered by 3DCenter. The first profile revealed that AMD has first GPU with 2.5D High-Bandwidth-Memory already developed:

Developed the world’s first 300W 2.5D discrete GPU SOC using stacked die High Bandwidth Memory and silicon interposer

The first cards released, in first quarter of this year

Radeon R7 360(X) “Trinidad”

Trinidad is Curacao (Pitcairn) replacement expected to launch with Radeon R7 360 series. The only information we have is limited to memory configuration of 256-bit and 2GB frame buffer. Additionally, Trinidad may be the first card of Radeon 300 series, as it’s currently planned for March (according to VR-Zone).
