Yeah, for half the price of the Plextor burner, you can get a DUAL LAYER
burner. Don't feel bad . . . many people are still opting for the single
layer burners. It's like buying an 8-track shortly after CD players hit the
market. I don't think the word has gotten out yet. :) -Dave

Sounds nice!

Though if you're going for a P4 then I would recommend you go for 1GB of ram
to show it off best. This is usually for video editing and the like though
what you propose should be good for starting off. Then you could get the
extra 512MB when you think you need it.

Why Prescott 3.0 ?
Any advantage to Northwood P4 3.0 GHz, 3.2GHz or 3.4GHz, 512K cache/ 800MHZ?

Except for the fact that not many stores carry the dual layer media and it's
very pricey at $20+ a pop.

Depending on how long you plan to keep your burner, it's still probably a
good idea to go dual layer. The media price will come down long before your
burner wears out. If you are stuck with a single layer burner, you might be
sorry. -Dave
