What do you use S8 Micro USB Adapter for?

I recently got a S8+ and it came with two adapters: one USB to USB c type, and one that I assumed was a micro USB to USB c type.

When I tried to use it as an adapter to charge my phone with a micro usb cable I realised it was actually micro USB (5 pin) to micro USB (11 pin).

I assume it is used for MHL buy how can it be used with my phone when the S8 has a USB c type charging port.

What can the adapter be used for?

Basically from what I heard Samsung included it for backwards compatibility with old chargers, though why they didn't include a type-c dongle is beyond me.

Are you sure it isn't a micro USB to USB c adapter?
Pretty sure that is what you supposed to get else it doesn't make any sense to include a Micro USB 5 to 11 Pin MHL adapter.
Did you buy a new retailer version or a refurbished/ second hand?
