So i am newbie in pc building and i just got a pc with 16gb 3200mhz rams but its shows "16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1066MHz (15-15-15-36)" so i wanna know why is it showing 1066mhz instead of 3200mhz and what are these (15-15-15-36).
So um should i enable this XMP thing in bios does it have a side effect or anything?it shows 1066MHz because that's the data rate. but you're using DDR4 - that's for double data rate. so the 1066MHz has to be doubled, which means your RAM runs at 2133MHz.
this means you haven't enabled XMP in BIOS, since DDR4's default speed is 2133MHz.
as for 15-15-15-36 -> these are the timings/latency for writing/reading of the DRAM. also called CAS latency.
