What does atapi mean (hdd)

hi all

im about to buy a seagate 1tb drive and im out of sata3 ports on my mobo so ill use this Marvell® PCIe SATA 6Gb/s controller : *6
1 x eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), red
1 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), navy blue

*6: These SATA ports are for data hard drivers only. ATAPI devices are not supported.

ATA Packet Interface. Basically, used for optical drives, tape drives or similar devices. You can plug a hard disk into one of these ports but not a DVD drive.

BTW, a mechanical hard disk will be no faster in a SATA 3 port than in a SATA 2 one. It would benefit a good SSD as they can transfer data much more quickly than a hard disk.
