What does GDDR5 mean?

I'm looking out for a graphic card, but I don't know if my DDR4 RAM is compatible with GDDR5 graphic Ram type. What exactly is this GDDR5? Any help is welcome.

The RAM memory doesn't have nothing in common with the graphics card memory. You can have a DDR3 or DDR2 memory and a GDDR5 card (In this case -DDR2-, you may be in a bottleneck, but this is just a example to show you the ram has nothing tin common with the graphics card)

About GDDR5, short answer: GDDR5, is an abbreviation for double data rate type five synchronous graphics random-access memory.

The ddr4 in your pc is memory installed in the motherboard stores information on an integrated circuit used by the operating system, software, and hardware
The gddr5 is a faster type of memory used in graphics cards they need memory to perform all the graphics related calculations and render them.
The memory's don't have to match from motherboard to graphics card .
