What does 'Load Optimized Defaults' mean? Z97 Gaming 5

So I was in my bios (msi z97 gaming 5 mobo) and selected boot priorty because i was reinstalling windows. I hit f4 by accident, and it listed my cpu information (i5 4690).

I pressed f6 afterwards, which said "load optimized defaults". So I did, and it went back to the bios screen. What exactly does it do? Does it reset my bios to default settings? Or what? I thought only resetting the CMOS battery did that.

Yes it sets the bios back to factory default settings.

Sometimes "optimized" means some level of overclocking will be applied.
Regardless, it should be a setting that you can run with.

I have a non-k processor, so I don't suppose it would O/C for me. Besides it's at default speeds.
