What does oc mean for ram?

I know oc is overclock but this motherboard says 2400 speeds oc.

I purchased this motherboard and I have 2400 speed ram coming in tomorrow and was wondering if it should work. I do have a pentium g4560 (7th gen processor) coming in so I know it supports it but I was wondering if I have to do anything to make the motherboard accept it.

no the mb will read the ram fine and set the speed for you. intel default speed was 2100. for ddr4 memory. myself i used ddr 2400 on my dad home build and a older g cpu. mb boot up fine and set the speed for me. most new ram have eproms that have more then one speed mb can read and set now.

Overclocking, by definition, is working outside the guaranteed specifications. It will most likely work but there's a chance it might not. If it was guaranteed to work it wouldn't be overclocking. Read the motherboard's overclocking disclaimers.

With real world workloads, you probably won't notice any difference between 2400 and 2133 MHz because there's a lot more to consider than just RAM speeds.

Just enable xmp profile 1 in your motherboard once your ram arrives, it will let it run at stated speeds, not the stock speeds the motherboard has set

What does xmp profile 1 do? And when I plug my ram in, it will just be 2133 until I change it?

Yes it will be 2133, untill you enable xmp, XMP lets it run at its stated speeds and timings, the motherboard will force it into 2133 without it.
