What does the CMOS jumper do? Are they being replaced with buttons? What if I just take out the battery and put it back in? Is that the same thing? How do I test the RAM with CMOS?
The jumper is to reset the BIOS to its default settings. Don't know about replacing the jumper with a button - maybe on some boards. Sometimes you have to take out the battery, but the best way to reset the BIOS is with the jumper. You test RAM with memtest86+, the tests during POST are basic - will the RAM run at the settings in the BIOS.
