What does this mean?

Hi,
I am trying to import all of my email folders from my desktop pc on to my laptop. I have used exactly the same account details for Outlook 2010 on both machines. I have exported the folders and saved it as a .pst file. I put this file onto a flashdrive and put it into my laptop, however, when I go to import the file this message comes up: 'The file C:\Users\kitchen\Desktop\archive.pst is not an Outlook data file (.pst).'
Well, clearly it is exactly that...so not sure what I'm doing wrong :-\
Any suggestions??

Thanks for that but I've already tried everything there...I've done everything that it says I need to do but somehow I think the file may be corrupt...not sure how to fix this or stop it from happening ??
