Hello, I am practically fully upgrading my PC in a sense, I am upgrading my motherboard, ram, CPU, the cooling fan, and also my graphics card. My current motherboard is a MSI Z97 Gaming 5, and I am upgrading to a MSI Intel 7270, I was wondering if, first, I needed to purchase a copy of Windows 10 or should I not? Also, should I backup my SSD and HDD? Will they be wiped when I upgrade? I am fairly new to this so I have no idea what to expect.

Actually you may not require a full wipe. Going from Intel to Intel you may be able to boot from your current ssd just fine. If you can you just want to install the chipset drivers for the new board and update all other drives. Windows may not even make you re-key your OS. That actually happens less than it used to.

Yes backup any important data that you want to keep as a full wipe will be required for that sort of upgrade.

As for Windows 10, depends if you have an OEM licence or a Retail license currently.
