Hello Ika,

Prior to migrating to Windows 7 from Windows XP did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?

To determine if your current computer configuration will be compatible with Windows 7 please go to the following link: http://tinyurl.com/no4xb7

Another resource to verify compatibility is available at the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center located at the following link: http://bit.ly/1gW6Ns

You can visit the official Microsoft Migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 site here: http://tinyurl.com/yz2uogt

There are some nice videos tutorials and steps to take when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7. And yes it is true you cannot directly upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 you can take some steps to ensure a smooth process.
Thanks again and good luck!

If you want backup the drivers in XP for the purpse of later reinstalling XP, then you can download a free utility called Driver Collector to do the job, link to: http://majorgeeks.com/Driver_Collector_d3982.html

If you are thinking of using these drivers with W7 then forget it, can't be done, you will need W7 drivers for your hardware.
Use the link provided by windows7guy for compatability.

If you are going to use the upgrade version of W7 use the W7 dvd to boot in and choose custom install, disk tools and select format. Do not format the drive before booting the W7 dvd when using the upgrade disk.
