What drives are “Hot Swappable”?

So I’ve been looking at the Rosewill L-4412 case, which claims to be hot swappable. I was wondering, does my hard drive also have to be hotswappable, or can I just buy a normal drive, and save some money? When I say hot swappable I mean you could take it out while the system is running, not just one of those “you don’t need to open the case to remove it” scams. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

You need to have a supported motherboard. Most motherboards support hot-swap. E-SATA and SATA are hot swappable. You will also need to enable hot-swap in the BIOS/UEFI.

Hotswappable really just refers to being able to pull the HDD out without having to tear apart the case. Technically every case is hotswappable if you don't care about ease of access.
