I bought a NC100U-WM Network card from Walmart (I know..it was cheap :->)
.... and got everything working I think, except that while the box says that
it is compatible with XP, the floppy doesn't have anything on it that would
correspond to XP ... anyway, it looks like its working ok, all the lights
light up - but the connection won't go anywhere except the centurytel
diagnostics page - I called tech support at century tel - but of course its
after 5 and they can't help me till Monday (even with their supposedly 24/7
support!)

I hooked earthlink back up and googled this card and seems like there is a
lot of trouble with the drivers not being compatible with XP pro.... does
anyone know a workaround - or should I take this back to Walmart ... and if
so, what do I buy to work with DSL for century-tel - my computer didn't have
an ethernet card on it

thanks!
Pam

Take it back and find an Intel or 3COM. Linksys would work as well.. I
would recommend staying away from SMC and CNET cards. Your best bet is
truly Intel, in my opinion.

well, I took it back and got the linksys - but nothing changed - I guess its
a problem with century tel -

when I run the setup for century tel dsl, the tests that 'fail' are the
TEST THE CARRIER's CONNECTION
test ATM OAM end-to-end ping FAIL

and the

TEST your connection to century tel
test PPPoE server connection FAIL

I know I'm connected though - and the Ethernet connectiion, ADSL sync,
Ethernet connection to ATM all pass....

even with 24/7 help...I still have to wait till Monday - tech guys have no
clue on tehir 800 #

if you have any other advise, please let me know

thanks for your info

Pam

Go to www.dslreports.com and access the DSL forums and FAQs. There
might be something simple on your end that will fix it.

Pam,
Have you check the manufacturer's website and see if there are newer drivers for the card. The drivers on the CD that came with the card may be out of date.
