What ever happened to those UHD 27" Glossy IPS displays?

You know the ones, Hazro, Catleap, Shimian etc. some of which were glass fronted.
All my Google searches return used ones for sale or OOS new ones.
I also notice any comments on these and others of their ilk seem to be centred around 2012/14!

Do you mean all those second and third rate many dead pixel reject panel Korean knock offs that didn't have any support and didn't work very well?

You may be of that persuasion but I did have access to a Hazro one which the guy in the next apartment to me had when I was working in Dubai.
It was none of those things you mention.
I was totally mesmerised by it's image quality, it was a delight to use; and of course Apple screens are built around the same LG panel.

There was an oversupply of LCD panels around 2012/2013, so a lot of the excess panels trickled down to no-name brands at cheap prices.

During 2014/2015 there was a shortage of LCD panels, so that supply dried up. (If I remember right, there was a fire at one of the major LCD manufacturing factories.)

It looks like we're heading for another oversupply period (China's economy is faltering, so demand is falling short of predictions). So you may see the no-name brands begin to reappear.

Similar shifts in supply vs demand are why there hasn't been a good SSD sale for most of the year. Demand for flash memory is outstripping supply this year.
