What EXACTLY does sdram_schmoo do?

Hi. I have a raspberry pi 3 model b and I overcloked my ram to 588mhz and an overvoltage number of 2. I heard that sdram_schmoo helps to get to 600mhz but a lot of people use it with exact ram overvoltage. I was thinking, WHAT? WHAT IS SDRAM_SCHMOO?!?!okay, thanks

Even if you know, and you manage to get 600Mhz - do you think that you, or the application, will feel the 2% difference in memory speed?

Well, i'm just experimenting and the application I am planning to use is a minecraft server. Also, it's fun.
