I'm trying to build a good gaming platform but i'm still very undecide about the Cpu.
I always had Intel but now i feel amd could be a better choice.
Which of the 2 would u choose?

Go for AMD, without any doubt. Try to get the 90nm version of 3500+, it runs cooler, consumes less power and if you're planning to overclock, then 90nm 3500+ is better than 130nm 3500+

If you can wait for ~1 month, then you can get nForce4 based mobos (which will have PCI Express)

agreed, AMD 64 was almost designed to run Doom3 because of onboard memory controller allows system ram to run like cache.

If you don't care about PCI Expres/SLI, then there's nothing wrong with buying nForce3 Ultra. Except PCI Express/SLI, there's very little difference between NF3 and NF4

a newcastle at 2.4ghz or 2.2gh Clawhammer is still faster than P4 3.2 in doom3, far cry. the A64 is faster clock for clock than the P4. A64 leads with quieter, and lower operating temperatures. Intel is discontinuing P4 because it has clearly lost to the new A64 family of processors in performance and heat. my old 3.2e prescott ran 60c full load with intel stock fan running at 41dB! And it was slower than the northwood core in most applications much less A64.

Either machine will play games just fine with 1gb of ram. AMD will just do it a little better.
