What frequency of RAM can FX 6300 support??

Officially it supports 1866Mhz My brother run an FX-6300 with 16g of 2133 ram @ 2200 OC'd. Note ,he have been running it that way for over a year now with zero issues ever.If your MOBO supports it , so will an AMD chip , plain and simple. Note; some boards may require a couple of clicks , i.e. manually set it. But that's fine , while you are at it , overclock it a hair or two.And to really square things up nicely , up the voltage on your northbridge by 0.01

motherboard seems to have final say in what ram you use........lot of them do not recognize 1866. just go into bios and manually change. pretty simple. if you don't want to do this , better off putting in 2133 which is about same price and motherboards read better. also faster

It might, 'officially' they FX CPUs 'can support up to 1866 at 1 DIMM per channel' , it doesn't say they 'DO' Support it. The AMD BIOS and Kernel Programming Guide identifies the FX CPUs as having a native 1333 MC (memory controller). Further it's the Memory controller that determines what DRAM you can run, the mobo(chipset) needs to support it also, but the MC of the individual CPU is tthe determining factor
