I am planning to get an intel G3258 cpu and overclock it, but some people say that it cant run games that require quad cores. I know there are ways around it, but can anyone find an article listing those games? I am also planning on upgrading the cpu soon after I get the G3258, its just that Im tired of waiting, and want to get into PC gaming! Any help would be appreciated..

I am planning on playing a lot of Arma 3, Rust, Ark:Survival Evolved, Battlefield 4, etc...
I plan on getting a r7 360 for the GPU.
Is it true that you can run quad core cpu games on a dual core cpu? Ive seen many people say that isn't true.

I would, but its not in my budget at the moment. I plan on getting the r9 380 later on.

With g3258 and R7 360,you can run any game, but for triple A games, you want to lower the settings, probably not gonna satisfy you, therefore I'd go with the GTX 950,ASUS one is at 140$ .

For CPU,i3 6100 or FX 6300.

Most important thing is,your current Budget for all this, which is?

Please don't laugh:$400.
I want to go with an intel cpu even though I like AMD better so I can upgrade in the future. And As long as it can play games at 1080p at medium-high settings I would be fine-Im a console 'peasant' as some people may refer me too, and I just want to get past console quality graphics, which seem good to me. If anyone has any build recommendations, I'll take them! Thanks

No, I meant I like AMD, but chose intel to upgrade in the future (My wording may be off, please forgive).

A little over budget, but in the end its gonna save you $$

Wouldn't going with the Haswell series be better because it is still excellent in gaming, and will become cheaper in the future? I just want to spend the least amount of money I can until I get enough for an i5 and decent gpu.
I know the skylake cpus are better.

Well, this PC gonna play games well for 2-3 years, and as you are new to PC gaming, you'll need upgrade every 3-4 years, weather its the CPU or GPU,you are thinking you can upgrade it to haswell i5,but after a year or so,nobody gonna buy previous gen CPU,it is as it is, when you have enough amount to spend,do so on pascal GPUs that are soon gonna arrive,if it is worthy.

As for the CPU,the skylake i3 can handle high end cards, you can always overclock it later on with a decent air cooler.

Isn't that an old cpu? I want something that I can upgrade in the future, so either a Haswell or skylake. If anyone has any disagreements, please say so, because I could afford to get it, the only thing is idk what kind of ram it is. Thanks for helping though.
After looking into it, It does seem like a quality CPU capable of running a lot of AAA games. Anyone have anything to say about it/ The only thing is that I wont be able to get a GPU with it at first, but I can still pick up. it
