Hi guys here`s the PC, just won`t die on me:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 stock @2.4GHz
3gb ddr2 667MHz
Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L rev 1.x
geforce 8600gt gigabyte silent pipe 2 256mb gddr3

My question for you is, can I get a HD 7770 /HD 7750 /gtx 750Ti /gtx 750 with this 420W(no pun intended) PSU ? I understand that it can handle HD7750, but what about the rest

+12V(15A) +5V(30A) +3.3V(20A) -12V(0.8A) +5vsb(2A) 420W cheap PSU

Solution

Figured as much. The PC itself is a decade old and ain't nobody buying *that* PSU new. I would not make any GPU change without a new PSU.

Problem is that this isn't really a 420W PSU in the modern sense. That's a 90s design, PCs power-hungry components all use the +12V rail for the last 15 years. For all intents and purposes, this is a 180W PSU. Given that this is almost certainly not a quality PSU anyway and probably a decade old to boot, there's no chance I'd be making any changes, your current GPU is likely stressing your PSU to the edge already.
