Hello everyone.

This is my current PC:

Ryzen 2600 (5600X arriving tomorrow)
Asrock B450M Steel Legend
OLOY 2x16GB 3200Mhz
XPG 750W Power Supply
RX 5700XT Nitro +

I live in Brazil, and hardware prices here are crazy so dont try to compare with US/Europe prices...

I currently play on 1080p 144hz monitor (next year planning to get a 1440p). I also play VR games on Quest 2.

My options are:

EVGA 3060 Ti FTW ULTRA $742
MSI AMD 6800 (reference card) $976
Gigabyte 3070 Gaming OC $976

So considering my local prices which one is a better upgrade from my 5700XT ? (I will probably sell it for $490)

Solution
It's a toss up. Generally the 6800 and 3070 are within a few fps of each other, some games amd is a few ahead, some games nvidia. Close enough of a battle to be of no real consequence. 3-5 fps either way isn't a concern.

What matters is the DLSS and RT. That's getting used more and more in games, especially the DLSS, and with those enabled and taken advantage of, the amd cards bomb comparatively, with some games giving a 30± fps gain to the 3070. You need to move upto a 6800XT to get competitive there.

What's worse is the higher the resolution, the larger the spread, so at 1080p the differences are still barely in nvidia favor, but at 1440p its a larger gap and at 4k its pretty decent sized.

For 1440p I would suggest 3070. I don't like AMD cards due to their lack of NVENC, it's a great encoder if you wanna stream. And they don't have good RTX. If there's a cash crunch you can even go for 3060 Ti.

Well since I don't stream NVENC is not a deal breaker for me.

There is actually a good deal right now... 6800 from sapphire $ 878

That is $98 cheaper than an 3070... i was looking at reviews and it looks like 6800 performance is better than 3070(not considering DLSS)

Well if you don't care about RTX performance then the 6800 is a better deal. But once I saw those reflections in RTX I was swayed lol even I was gonna go for a 5700XT ($535 where I live), went for a 2070S instead ($620) rip marginal returns

How much is the 6800xt over there ?

Over here it's the same price as a 2070-s, but is almost twice as fast in some games. I've never been a fan of AMD GPU's, but that represents some pretty good value. Probably explains why all the 6800xt's are sold out over here.

DLSS is a boost in fps, nvidia can take good advantage of it, amd not so much.
