What GPU Gigabytage is best for an entry level gaming PC?

Hey all,
So while shopping for an entry-level, budge gaming PC, I noticed that I was offered various amounts of Gigabytage for my Graphics Card - specifically 1, 2, 3 and 4, from AMD and Nvidia. I was wondering for someone like me, how much gB I'd actually need and how much is recommended. Bear in mind I'd prefer to get an Nvidia simply because of Shadowplay 😉.

Depends on your display resolution. Nowdays 2GB is the suggested minimum. Let us know how many monitors of what resolution you will be using.

Another factor is how much graphics GPU power you have. A slower card simply will not be able to make use of much memory. Let us know what kind of budget you have.

I think I only plan to use one screen and my budget is about <£500. Thanks for the quick reply

I would recommend an Nvidia GTX 970. A very powerful card that runs cool and quiet and takes little power.

You have just enough money to get an Nvidia GTX 980, but unless you are really into gaming and all, it isn't as good as a value, being about 15% faster but costing 50% more.

I meant £500 for the entire PC - my budget isn't quite that big xD

just to let u know this build will play bf4 with windows 8.1 on bf4 with fps of avg 60 high 90+ lowest 40 and thats on full graphics.

the build there is under 500 but with no OS so look for one online 😉 the board has mint overclocking abilitys if you have enough left before you build get a ssd mate, you dont need one but it will improve the speed ten fold, the cpu can be overclocked witht hat cooler id say to 4.5ghz peeps have pushed 5ghz but with water cooling, btw go for windows 8.1 its improved my gaming exp loads especially in bf4 frames went up 30+.

well im not savy on that website i guess they build it for you? in that case it may cost you more a 270 is the limit any lower and i feel you wouldnt have decent exp, same for the cpu, check youtube out on how to build a pc, honestly theres a guy on there thats fantastic and does a full system build for you and u copy.

Thats what pc part picker is for mate you chose your heart of the computer which is your motherboard and then the website shows you all the other parts thats compatable with that motherboard honestly you cant go wrong. only one thing though the evo 212 cooling fsan for the cpu it may be to large for some pc cases on there i think thats the only thing that does not get taken into consideration but that does not stop you from building your own mate honestly i built my own here my 1st and im chuffed i did 😀 it did take some stones though to do it haha

yeah mate what it does it looks for the cheapest place and lists them cheapest first and so on, honestly mate you cant go wrong with it, and you would get more for your money if you build, its so simple honest its like lego with some simple wire lol

no mate not at all intergrated gpus use so much ram its unreal, its amd way of helping people make cheap pc's but for those who aint interested in gaming, id keep to fx cpus or if you can intel cpu's there a lot lot better.
