So my PSU got hit by lightning and when I went to replace I ended up buying some other parts. Old CPU was Athlon 64 X2 6000+. Mainly played CS:GO and other old games, wanted to get into SC2 was playable but CPU struggled.
So I just bought this bundle on a closeout (got for $100):
Core i3-4150
Asus B85 motherboard
2x4GB DDR3
Also bought a 500W PSU. Already had SSD, DVD-RW, and a 2GB GTX 650 GPU.
SC2 runs well now. Would like to get Skyrim and be able to grab some other newer games from time to time on Steam sales.
Looking for a good GPU upgrade in the $150ish price target that will be a good match. Hope to be able to play Skyrim and other 3-4 year old games on ultra if possible and I don't think the GTX650 will handle that. Would also like to be able to play some newer games but with the expectation that some games I will have to deal with reduced performance.
Any suggestions?
Edit: forgot to add looking for 1080p resolution on the older games at least and must be able to do dual monitors with either HDMI or DVI ports.
