i have put in nvida gforce gigabyte gv-n210d3-1gi, gpu and it worked, but went out.
i replaced it with nvidia 630 gpu and now at start up it tells me at that the gpu is not compatible, yet it will work the video but sound wont work and my game doom crashes, with this card.

updated all drivers for it also.
if any one can tell me of a 2 gb gpu that is working good with this set up please let me know.

Solution

Just so you know, the PSU will only "put out" the watts needed.
Watts (DC) is a function of voltage x amperes.
Watts is the amount of power used by the system at any given time and varies according to system load.
Watts is comparable to horsepower.
The 630 should work just as well as the 210 did. Used card? Might be defective. Did you install the new drivers for the 630 (including the HDMI audio if that is what you use)?
Not sure why you'd get a 'not compatible' message. There should be no compatibility issue. Is that a Windows message or something that shows up at the black boot screen?

yes i'm using the hdmi audio from the 630 and the audio wont work.
this is the message that i get at boot, when i hit F12 and go into the boot menu everything works except for system setup. when i select system setup a message say this.

incompatible video controller
vesa function 0x4f02 returned ax= 14f

1) What happens when you remove the gfx card and use the integrated gfx?

2) Is it mandatory that you use the gfx card's HDMI audio? Do you have satellite speakers you can plug into the motherboard audio instead?

3) Did Doom (2016?) run OK with the GeForce 210 you had before? Normally Doom requires 2GB VRAM minimum.

1. inter gfx is all good.
2. no, i could use on board audio. yes, the on board audio works fine.
3. doom 3 worked on the 210 with lower setting in the games gfx and fps settings.

i think i have found the problem with the 630 card, it seem when i update it to the newest driver it goes hay wire and get a windows code 43 in DM...
after breaking out the test equ. and a few math problems later i found the the psu isn't putting out but 201.7 watts and that's not enough to run my rig.
mostly due to age on the psu or the motherboard both are over 6 years old.

so i order a few things to make some changes to my rig:

Intel DG43GT LGA775 re manned board

Hercules 600w psu

ATX 20 Pin PSU to Mini HP ATX 24 Pin Connector Adapter

Dynatron EVO-11 Evolution 11 CPU Cooler Fan

Rosewill - Micro ATX Mini Tower

i think with the q9650 cpu it will do ok.

PS: i'm building a better unit to run my game on intel motherboard duel socket 1366 with 2 intel Xeon X5680 @3.33ghz overclocked to 4ghz if possible, 1000w psu, 4gb ddr5 gpu, 16g of ram per cpu, liquid cooled w/ external rad (i havn't picked one yet).

all of this i have collected over time and have have less then a 100 bucks in + the cost of my cooler.

1.do you think the duel 1366 is up to the task of running doom 3?

2.pls let me know what you think about the duel 1366 build w/ the add-on's i,ve listed above.

and also thanks clutchc for help me figure out the problem with the gpu on this dell 760.

a few answers your wondering about your system

1. service manual/technical manual is located at http://www.dell.com/downloads/ap/products/optix/optix_760_tech_guide.pdf
on page 9 shows the possible CPUS that can run on this motherboard. and yes Dual Core 2 Quad Q9650 is listed.

2. As for video card compatibility you have tyo pay attention to the type of slot the motherboard has on to support a video card type (PCI PCIE PCIE X16)
and looking at page 12 of manual you can see below it has a pcie x16 (though dell doesn't mention 1.0 1.1 2.0 or 3.0 in version)

3. which brings me to this point on page 12 of the manual it continues by listing suggested optional video cards to use.

on here we can see specific model, and we can google them to find out what they are configured to be.

TechPowerUp database shows;
NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE have a Bus Interface: PCIE x16 2.0
ATI Radeon HD 3450 has a Bus interface : PCIE x16 2.0

Which are the same bus type as the Nvidia GT 630 so it should not be a compatibility issue.

which Windows are you using again ?

7 pro thanks for answering the problem, but i think i found the cause of all the issues low wattage out putt on the psu it has drop to 201.7. 285w was cutting it close with this rig.
