Hi, I am thinking of getting a Sapphire 7970 for my pc. what is the cheapest psu I will need to run comfortably with overclocking?

And am I going for the right gpu?:

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Sapphire-Radeon-HD-7970-3GB-GDDR5-384-bit-925-MHz-DVI-HDMI-mini-DP-21197-00-40G-/151165147562?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item23322519aa

My specs:
Board: biostar n68s3+
Cpu: Phenom II X4 840 3.2 GHz
ram: 8 gigs
psu: powermax 420w
os: windows 7 premium 64 bit
vidio card: NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a :'(

I am looking for the cheapest way to play games on ultra at 1080p with moderate fps for the next few years.

Solution
First thing I would upgrade is the PSU because I don't trust powermax-branded power supplies. Following that would be a new motherboard and CPU combo.

A good XFX 550W PSU would do nicely and at a very low price. Easily affordable. As for motherboard and CPU, I would go with the AMD route of FX-6300 and Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0.

will my motherboard and cpu bottleneck the card? if that's the case then I might just get an intermediate video card. Then save up to upgrade my whole system. What would be the most powerful card I could run on this?
Thanks.

Ok, thanks I will look into getting an FX-6300, but do u know what video cards I could run in the meantime. I can't play battlefront 1 on medium settings at the moment...

And there are other older games I would like to play. If I could get up to xbox 360 standard for the moment I would be happy.

Unlikely up to xbox 360 standards with what you have. To make any decent upgrade, you will have to upgrade your motherboard and CPU. And I've already stated that your PSU is not reliable and have given you a good alternative.

You can still try for a HD 7750 to play Battlefront I. But wasting money like that would not be well spent. However, if that's all you have, then I would consider saving up instead of wasting $100.
