[SOLVED] What GPU Should I Pick For 4k Gaming 3080=3090

Ram-32GB
PSU-1000W Evga
Monitor 4k-144hz refresh rate
Current GPU-2080ti

Whats the best for 4k gaming because heard that 3090 is good but more towards the 8k thing but with 3080 only 10GB but will it still be worth it since its double the amount of 2080ti because my vram on cod dose not go to max

A 3090 isn't going to be "8K" capable in any demanding game, at least not natively without upscaling from far lower resolutions. 8K is equivalent to running four 4K screens at once, after all, so ignore any marketing nonsense calling it an "8K" card.

In reality, based on specs, a 3090 will only manage up to 20% more performance than a 3080, and at best maybe up to 75% more gaming performance than a 2080 Ti. The 3080, by comparison, is likely to be up to 50% faster than a 2080 Ti, though in both of those cases, I would expect the typical performance differences to be lower than that in most titles. And the 3070 will probably be around the performance level of a 2080 Ti, though it's hard to say exactly where it's performance will lie, and that will likely vary from one game to the next.

So, comparing the 3090 to the 3080, is it going to be worth spending more than twice as much for up to 20% more performance in games? Probably not, unless one has money to burn and is fine with paying around $800 more for a relatively small performance boost. It's basically a rebadging of what would have previously been marketed as a "Titan" card in the past. The announced pricing for the 3070 and 3080 seems relatively good, but arguably not so much for the 3090. The performance difference going from the 3080 to the 3090 is likely to be significantly lower than that of going from the 3070 (or 2080 Ti) to the 3080, but the price difference will be far higher.

If you have the budget, buy the 3090.
I see two reasons:

1. Benchmarks are not out, but the 3080 is not a big upgrade for you. If you do not see a big improvement, you may be disappointed.

2. On the psychological front, if you opt for the 3080, you will forever be second guessing yourself.
The price of a 3090 is daunting, but the pain is brief compared to how long regrets can last.

Yeah still going to think about it because 3080 is good price and double the amount of 2080ti and will work better with 4k gaming

2 Yes i did that with 10900 regretted it 2nd bought it and just swapped it with the k one after couple days using it. So in my mind will be saying 3090 is better. Then again its going to be expensive unlike 3080 is double the amount of cores and has got more power to run 4k 144hz well

It doesn't have double amount of cores....the 3090 has 10496 cuda cores and the 3080 has 8704 cuda cores. My math comes up with with exactly 20% more cuda cores. Considering that the 3090 cost more than double, it not really a good value....

But if money doesn't matter....go for it.

The 3090 to be a 8k gaming card is the same marketing BS as the PS4 and Xbox One to be real 4k gaming consoles.....this is just Nvidia to playing the marketing drums for attention. We are many years away from 8k...

Nevertheless, it will be awesome for 4k. But so will be the 3080. Look at the 3080 Doom eternal gameplay videos......up to 170fps on highest 4k settings.....sounds pretty good for a $700 card. If you spend addtional $800 on the 3090 you get maybe up to 190 fps but your screen can't even benefit from anything beyond 144fps. So, I would rather save the money and go with 3080 and then in 2 years upgrade to RTX 4080.....

How frequently will you upgrade your gpu? Would getting a 3090 mean you won’t upgrade for a much longer time? If going for the 3080 means you can upgrade again when 4000 series releases I would go that route. Chances are the 3090 will be outperformed by much cheaper gpu’s.

Yeah i can see clearly that the expensive 2080ti just got beaten by cheaper new GPU and that where am disappointed but yes do upgrade when there new series and yes you made my mind clear now that 3080 is the right path!
