What GPU with 6600k?

Here's my current build:

• 
  Scythe Ashura
  MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
  Intel Core i5 6600K
  Corsair Vengeance, DDR4, 3000MHz
  be quiet! Straight Power 10 CM (600W)
  ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming

My plan:

• 
  Replace GTX 970 with ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP Extreme
  Replace Scythe Ashura with Corsair H100i v2
  Overclock the 6600k to 4.5 GHz

Should I go for another GPU or buy what I planed to?

Sounds like a good plan to me, with any luck you should be able to overclock higher than 4.5ghz.

Do you think the 6600K will hold the 1080 back? Also 4.5 is perfectly fine to me as I only plan to play Overwatch for the most part. I want to get as many frames as possible out of it.

for that specific game, any game really ( with the exception of BF1 )

Overclocking will help a lot. Might be the odd game that would run faster with 8 threads, but you should be fine, will still perform well.

Just realized that you are basically running what I plan to do. How did you like it so far? Would you change something?

like i said, the occasional stutter in cpu intensive games like bf1... though that issue is pretty well know. But getting a 1080 was a great leap from my old 780 lightning.

Only played overwatch for a couple of hours and maxed out on details and believe i was at 144 frames atleast all the time.
