What Graphic Card is going to be the most "future proof" for my build?

Hi guys, I've recently bought and built up my first gaming PC but am yet to purchase a GPU. I currently have in my build:
- i5 4690k
- MSI Z97 mobo
- 8GB DDR3 1866MHz RAM
- 1TB HDD
- 650w PSU
I am looking for a GPU which will serve me well for the next few years or so, meaning I don't want it to be left behind soon with any new generations of graphics cards coming in?! Anyone please got any suggestions on what I should do in terms of buying a GPU asap or waiting a bit to see if their is a new line coming out? My budget will be around £275 so ideally/maybe a GTX 970? I am wanting the gpu sooner rather than later so I can begin gaming 😛 but will be happy to wait if anyone thinks I would be better off doing so.
Really appreciate any time giving for my query guys! Thanks

Ok, your current setup with a GTX 970 would be fine with a 600W PSU that can actually deliver it's rated wattage. I take it you're from the UK, I'll see what Amazon UK have.

Ok, this is about as cheap as I'd recommend, it's non modular http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-600W-Bronze-Power-Supply/dp/B00EN3FD20/ref=sr_1_16?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1451099206&sr=1-16&keywords=psu
If you can afford it...

Thanks for your reply, Didn't even know you could put AMD GPU's in intel PC's? :/ ahaha! Btw, it's a cougar stx 650w 80+ psu. Do you know how much the GPU's are likely going to change please? Finally, What makes the R9 390 better than the GTX 970 please?

Cheers a million dude

The motherboard doesn't care what brand of graphic card you have. Teh R9 390 is just an option. They are pros and cons to either R9 390 and GTX 970. Both are decent cards for the price.
No one outside the development of the next series gpu will know until it is released.

Okay cheers man for all your support. I'll have a think about it... Oh and I'm quite interested in both still, but especially the gtx 970, can you recommend the most value for money option please?
Thanks!

There is no reason why you can put an AMD into an Intel machine (or a NVidia into an AMD machine), they still work just the same.
Anyway, I have to break some bad news to you, your PSU is from a manufacture that makes poor quality PSUs. I couldn't find any test info on the stx model, but I did for the Cougar rs 650 and it turns out they explode if you try to draw 650W http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/cougar-rs-650-w-power-supply-review/7/
So there is no way I could recommend you put an R9 390 in with that PSU. Even a GTX 970 is risky, as there is always the possibility of component damage should your PSU fail. I know you won't want to hear this, but you should throw away that PSU and get a better quality unit.

Actually quite glad you brought this up believe it or not, but I've been having vibrating issues since purchase, been considering buying a new one ever since seeing as how its really load even with my be quiet silent base 600 case! Can you recommend a decent psu for a gtx 970 please buddy with my current setup? I really appreciate your help

If you can afford it, this is a better quality unit and fully modular http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Supernova-Modular-Power-Supply/dp/B00LMAUZ6G/ref=sr_1_20?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1451099206&sr=1-20&keywords=psu

If you want to look for yourself, don't go below tier 3 on THIS list, ideally look for a tier 1 or 2.
