So long as you have that slot then it shouldn't be a problem. GDDR5 RAM won't affect the motherboard in any way, it just means you have a stronger card. Just make sure your CPU is good enough for a future GPU upgrade too.

PCIe 3.0 is the bus of the card. It will still fit in a PCIe x16 slot, hence the term PCIe 3.0 x16

Clock speed won't be a problem since that's just on the card. It won't do anything to the motherboard.
You can even get a 2GB GDDR5 card to work for you basically.

The R7 240 actually won't be able to handle several games that well in 1080p. It's geared towards 720p gaming really. And with a 240W PSU, it might be a tight fit. Can you tell me your full system specs so that I can see if it can all run well?

After some researching, I found the recommended wattage to be at around 230-240W. So that PSU is going to JUST fit. For a PSU to be efficient, its maximum wattage needs to be a few percent above the recommended wattage of the system. So you would've been fine had you had a 300-350W PSU.
As for now I don't think the card would be worth the buy. What games do you play and are they playable with your current system right now?

Now, are you ok with these low settings or do you wanna up the graphics to high and still get smooth performance? If yes, then an upgrade should be in order. But to BOTH the gpu and the power supply, since your current one, I'm afraid won't cut it for newer graphics cards.
Just think about it if it's worth it.
