Im looking to upgrade my graphics card. I currently have a GeForce GTX 970. Budget between $200 - $300.

Right now you are looking at a GTX1060 6gig or a RX 580 both of which are equal or slightly better than the 970. What you could do is sell the 970 for about $200 and get a GTX1070 and be set that way.
