Hey everybody, I have recently been looking at building a new computer. I was just wondering what would a good entry level gaming graphics card would be to go with this bundle, im asking this because I've read that if your graphics card isnt matched up to your system it will not be at its full potential. Also people letting me know if the bundle is good value or not would be helpful.

The bundle is a CCL Alpha Enchant Motherboard Bundle:

AMD Bulldozer FX-6 Six Core 6100 Black Edition 3.30GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor
PNY Optima 4GB Memory Module DDR3 1333MHz DIMM
Asus M5A78L-M LX Socket AM3+ Motherboard
All with a 3 year warranty

All that for £199.99

I live in the UK so the price is in pounds (£).

Now, im hoping the graphics card will cost me no more than £60 but I have a feeling it will be more. but if possible under £60 please. :ange:

Also, I'm afraid cannot use sites like Newegg, so please Amazon, CCL or any other UK Supplier.

Thanks in advance :D

I am aware of this, I simply want to get the components before i choose a PSU. :D

Also I recently realised that this is a UK website, sorry about assuming it was an American one. :)

Oh ok well frankly you can put any GPU you can afford in there without any bottlenecks. The more you spend, the more performance you get, so really just pick the best card for your budget.

The GTX 560 or the 6870 are both good choices for 1080p gaming, but probably a little more than your budget. The 6850 and 550Ti are decent cards as well and they should be pretty close to what you're looking at. Lower than that you have the 6790 and the 6770 which are ok but many games will run at medium settings at 1080p.

6850 is actually faster than a GTX 560 sans ti and it is leaving GTX 550ti in the dust. 550 ti is a bit of a price/performance dud.

Shouldn't be. the GTX560 is like a 6870. They are all rather close in performance. But it should look something like this for most games. GTX560 ~ 6870 > 6850. I usually give the nod to the GTX560 because they OC better then the 6870.

68xx series OC like beasts and 6850 is a fast card and 6870 is closer to 560ti not 560 sans ti. Here's a cherry picked best case scenario on a nice Msi 6850 notice how it surpasses the GTX 570 in Crysis. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/msi_r6850_cyclone/7.htm so 6870 should perform and OC better.

PS GTX 560 is a re badged GTX 460.

^not according to the reviews I've seen. 560 is usually around 6870 levels while the 560 Ti is around 6950 levels. The 550Ti is worse than the 6850.

GTX 560 is a GTX 460 albeit a glorified well marketed one. Quote Tom's Hardware article. " If those specs sound vaguely familiar, that's because they’re the same as Nvidia's GeForce GTX 460 1 GB. It makes sense; after all, the GF114 is functionally identical to GF104. It was simply reworked to deliver higher clocks while using less power. Similar but reworked with higher clocks.

What excuses do you use for this review? Another where the GTX560 beats the 6870.

Edit: Taking another look at your link, the GTX460 isn't in there either.

Do you remember seeing the GTX460 OC results? Where people pushed it up to 900MHz+ and got GTX470 performance? Are you saying the 6850 is faster then the GTX470?

To get back on track, I'm not sure what is available to you at 60pounds. I would assume that the GTX560 and 6870 are too much. The 6850 might be within reach, but I'm assuming you are really looking at the GTX550 or 5770/6770 at best. In this case I would stick with AMD. Get the 5770/6770, or the 6850 if you can. The GTX550 just isn't a good buy. (usually. Being across the pond might change things.)

6850 is fast than a GTX 460 is more available than GTX 460 and take less power than GTX 460 and creates less heat than GTX 460 and 6850 is cheaper.

Hey man, far as memory goes. in the Cart add another stick of that PNY memory. if you can. Also man check out my rig. were running the same CPU. i have 8 gigs of 1600. And i am running Not one but Two GTX 560 ti's one is the ASUS DCII with a slight core OC and the other is a Reference clock reference card. I easily see 60 fps while i play now. I recommend the ASUS DCII GTX 560 ti or the top edition. MSI Hawks edition is a clear winner in the benches up there ^ to so. And for your case for the best air flow you may want a big Mid tower, or a Full tower. The Haf X or the Corsair 500r, Haf 932, Haf 922. Any of the Corsair Carbide, or 400r series. The Antec Lan boy Air is a gamers dream because it creates good air pressure. they recommend you run all fans as intake because the case can;t be anymore open minded. and a Good PSU . the Corsair TX 650 can handle anything!. I don't use anything but Corsair PSU's

I knew i was being optimistic with £60... :na:

Thanks for everyones advice, the 6770 will most likely be the one I choose, unless I get a bit more money.

And i don't really see the point of getting more RAM at the moment, in my current system im usually using no more than 3gb. Perhaps that will change.

Dude no, it isn't faster. First of all the 460 is basically the 560, and in all the benches I've seen there's been maybe 1 game that the 6850 was better than the 560, while in multiple benches the 560 beats even the 6870.

On top of that, the 460 was fighting the 5850 for performance and value 2 years ago. The 5850 was generally a little faster, but the 5850 is also faster than a 6870! So that puts the 460 right around 6870 performance.

LOL @ another Nvidia Mantra 460 is on the way out and it had a great run RIP. 6850 is more efficient and powerful and cheaper that a GTX 460 and GTX 560 is a GTX 460 I thought you read the article I enclosed. Nvida has lots of fan buoys and a big Marketing because of it but Radeon is very very good.

everyone is listing cards outside of OP's price range but the 6670 or 450 is probably the best card OP can find for 60 pounds.

Anyways the hierarchy goes like this:
6770=550 ti <460 = 6790 <460 256bit bus = 6850 < 6870 = 560 < 560ti = 6950
perfrel_1920.gif

now you can stop bickering.
